My property overlooks a park consisting children's play apparatus, palm trees, other specimen trees and hedges etc. The council have just spent almost 4 weeks, trimming palm trees and pruning others, weeding and hedge cutting. The road sweeper has cleaned up everywhere superbly. The park now looks fantastic.However, just as it's finished the dog walkers turn up by the dozen allowing their dogs to foul the area. Children play with balls that role into the muck. The dogs don't know better, it's the owners that are irresponsible. The best of it is there is rough ground just 50 to 100 metres away that would be ideal for dogs. That is of course if owners aren't will to clean up the mess. Plea to dog owners to take a little pride in the area and even more important avoid parasitic infections in children.

Totally agree with you but I don't think they have laws in Spain to prevent dog fouling not that they should be needed. On the estate that I live there is a large minoriy who don't pick up the attitude seems to be the streets are cleaned why bother let someone else do it

Dear Jan06, they do have laws in Spain and every now and then they have a crack down, pretty weak one I think. I am told this in the town hall. You may think I don't like dogs but my son & daughter both have dogs back in the UK and I absolutely love them. However my son & daughter clean up after them.

I am sure you like dogs just as I do, but I think I am the same as you it is irresponsible dog owners that give everyone else a bad name good luck in your quest

Totally agree with your sentiments but I am afraid it appears that dog owners couldn’t care less dog mess is all over the Costa’s

I'm the owner of a large beautiful dog I ALWAYS pick up after him, makes me really cross when other owners fail to do so as my boy wants to sniff it all (YUK), walk takes ages. I can assure you It's going to get worse in the next few months when tourists arrive. Nothing any of us can do about bad unrespectful dog owners. Fines are pretty heavy if caught maybe if some were caught, fined the maximum and made an example of it may make other offenders think. Not going to hold my breath though.

Well done, I commend you for setting the example others should follow. Nothing nicer than seeing a lovely dog with it's owner respecting the environment. Good on you !!!

I walk my dog on the park you refer to. Afraid I can't stop him peeing sometimes on the bushes but he always poops off the paths in the areas inside the rough stone areas surrounded by the hedges and I always pick it up. I also walk him on the rough areas and pick up the poop from there as well.
I agree about those who do nothing about poop on paths and especially around the play area.
Don't feel guilty about the peeing but always keep him away from play area

Thank you Peter. I wish everyone was like you. Unfortunately there are many who let their dogs poop anywhere and not pick it up. Even in the rough areas children kick their balls into these areas and go to retrieve them. Thanks again for setting the example. Regards.
