Bringing a Spanish reg’d car into Spain from UK?

One word really.....Don't.

It may seem a bargain and a sensible thing to do but heard too many horror stories.

A recent one did the same thing, got to Spain to find that not only were there debts attached to the car but the car wasn't legally theirs so couldn't even have it on the public road as it had an embargo on it. They were assured by the UK dealer that all was above board and sorted.

As it stands you will have to retake your driving test here in Spain (in Spanish) unless agreements are reached to continue with the pre-Brexit exchange.

You can't drive it in the UK so would have to have it transported.

You can only do the checks in Spain, in the area were the car is registered. There are so many problems bringing a Spanish registered car from the UK to Spain. 

It might be easier to buy a Spanish car when you get here. That way you can do all the required legal searches, pay the required transfer tax and ensure that the car is ITV'd and registered on your local town hall for road tax (via the Suma). There have been a number of people that were sold Spanish cars that were not transferred correctly. They found that they didn't own the car or were liable for speeding fines etc and fines for non payment of IVTM (Spanish road tax).

speak to bev who specialises in registering cars and speaks perfect english, she can do the checks for you, just because the car is in the uk it doesn't mean you can't do the checks, it must be registered in spain to have the spanish plate, give her all the details you can, her number is+34676323684, you may consider buying in spain, i bought a bmw x5 it was up for 14000 Euro's i bid him down to 11500, private sale

bank holiday today in spain, i think she works independently but has been doing this for many years and speaks fluent spanish and english
