Hi everyone, we are moving to Spain soon on the NL visa and wondered if anyone can recommend a good currency transfer company. I have heard that Torfx and Smart currency exchange are good. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi,
if you troll through all the posts where this question has been asked, i think you will find that wise.com is the best option for currency transfers. Low fees, swift and secure trasnfers.

I will second what Nick has said, Wise are the best in my opinion. I have been with Wise for 8 years and never had any problems.

I agree with tebo53, wise is fast and efficient. Transfers from UK to my Spanish bank in seconds and exchange rate is always amongst the best.

Watch the rate….fees aren’t everything.
we use ‘place in the sun’ currency and they’ve been very good.
trouble is maybe they all rely on folks going with them first time then sticking with them
PIS😊 give same rates no matter what amount is transferred but charge a small fee for amounts less than 5k I believe. Much rather pay a fee than have a crappy rate 😉
best wishes

As an alternative try XE, we used them for our house purchase, as they don’t charge a fee, but have a slightly different exchange rate. It worked out better for us at the time. Money transferred within a hour or so.
But check out all the companies you can compare rates and fees without committing, bearing in mind that some of the exchange companies prices will fluctuate whilst you are doing the comparison. I check between Wise and XE every time I need to send money

Another recommendation for Wise from me. Been with them for 4 years and I can reinforce previous comments on their service.

Thanks I already use Wise, but need a currency transfer company to transfer larger amounts for a property purchase in Spain.

Is there an issue transferring large amounts with Wise? We haven't encountered any problems with large sums.
