It's good that you are flexible  Aitch, and you can stay up to 90 days unless you have other commitments, but as you know many people have to plan trips with leaving and returning dates ,,imagine booking for Portugal when it was announced on green list and then finding that you had the quara...

...ntine when you returned  ,more time of work ,certainly not good enough  from government  ,am glad people in UK are having some fine weather, they can get out and enjoy a bit of normality  although no doubt the news programmes will be complaining about possible risk of infection increasing ,they seem to thrive on doing people down ,anyway weather not good here ,raining and think same for tomorrow  ,someone did say on this forum a week or two ago that this was worst weather in 12 years ,that and mask wearing  can things get any worse ,I'm beginning to sound like Victor Meldrew

John, you like Victor Meldrew, I don't believe it.

Yes, bad news for anyone in Portugal, most people they were interviewing at Gatwick were cancelling their trip but tough if you are there already. Looking at the items on the news from Portugal itself it looked fairly deserted so perhaps not too many caught out.

Also, I should correct my statement about France, I see they are also requesting a negative covid test, this was not mentioned when I first read the news item but is now. Maybe Spain will follow suit soon.

Hi Bodil

Like aitch, I struggled with the links; thank you for the simplified explanation. That I did understand!

Would it therefore follow that people who have already had the disease, having built up antibodies, might be vulnerable to the effects of ADE at future exposure; viral challenge? Have I understood that correctly? 🤪🥂

I have not seen any research showing ADE in people/animals with naturally occurring Covid infections. If it were so, we should know about it as SARS and MERS happened quite a few years ago now.

Madrid -  16 Jun 2021:

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Wednesday expressed his confidence that “we will soon drop the use of face masks”

[Spain’s Public Health Commission, however, which brings together the central Health Ministry and the regional healthcare chiefs, did not debate the possibility of dropping the obligatory use of masks at its meeting on Tuesday. According to sources from the Health Ministry, who spoke to the Europa Press news agency, “there is no date” for the coronavirus measure to be lifted.]

[Spain currently has very strict mask rules in place, including their required use outdoors by everyone aged six and over even when social distancing can be observed. But many health experts have been calling for an end to mask-wearing outdoors for some time now, given that there is no evidence that their use when there are no crowds is effective.]

Thanks for the info Villas. Hopefully the mask wearing outside gets reviewed as soon as possible. Been in Spain two days now and it's a real pain wearing a mask outdoors at all times and in a lot of instances makes no sense at all.

Aitch.

It’s been quite simple here, ie mask on before you’re out the front door, take it off when you get back home.  As of next week it’s going to be on, off, on, off, they will be ineffective because we’ll be forever transferring germs from the outside surface to our faces and the inside surface every time they come off and go back on for the next place. Alternatively we need a pile of clean masks just for a simple multi shopping trip.
