My Neighbours of over 5 yrs from N Africa regularly have friends and relations over for prolonged periods well beyond the 90 days.

Several other families also without jobs and not paying their rent seem to be able to stay for years and owners of the properties appear to have their hands tied. They have children maybe that makes a differenc?

Hello

How do you know all this personal information about so many of your neighbours?

If you are that familiar with them all, then ask  them how they do it......or are you just guessing?

Cheers

My next door neighbours talk about their compatriots although they are very cagey about their own situation. But of course in 5 years we see who disappears in September and returns in January e,g. Also other Spanish neighbours are very forthcoming and police visits were noted well up until last year. In 5 years of permanent residency we have come to know a lot about about our F, D, B, I, E, UK, M, and other nationalities here within a 100m radius. Attempted break ins, thwarted by neighbours, evictions. A Swedish guy who was renting out his house came to see me one afternoon about getting his non paying tenant out. Not that I could offer much advice. This is a community with at least a dozen different nationalities, the place is like a ghetto in the summer with the tourists but now for example it gets back to normal and most people are are always ready for a chat or to ask to borrow some tool or WHY. Like a small multi national village!

He's like that fella off TV ..Norris in Coronation Street.  A right little nosey busy body. Knows everything about everybody.

Keeps him away from traffic on the main  roads I suppose.

Are the British 4th world citizens since Brexit? I see many non EU citizens coming and going, staying as long as they want, clearly not adhering to the 90/180 rule, it would seem without any control. Are we just being punished for Brexit and Gib?

M

Well the UK has avoided recession unlike many EU countries, so i would suggest its the other way around.

You are confusing Schengen and the EU freedom of movement.

Schengen never guaranteed freedom of movement, that instead was a foundational EU principle that applies to the whole of the EU.

The UK was never part of Schengen, instead it has the Common Travel Area, which includes Ireland (which is not in Schengen).  Indeed, Brexit had the effect of needing to formalise the Common Travel Area.
