Hi all

Just signed and forwarded to friends who like us are second home owners in Spain

We know what we spend a year of our hard earned sterling into Spain’s economy

The bars have closed in our village because people like us have not been for a year

I’m sure they will be glad of our euros when we can get back out there

Thanks to whoever instigated this partition

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

Even if people like you were here in Spain, the bars would still be closed - all bars and restaurants have been closed in Comunidad Valenciana region since 21 January and it will continue to be that way until at least 1 March, when there will be a further review of Covid-19 infection rates.

Hopefully, if the UK's vaccination programme continues apace and there are no further mutations identified there, Spain will lift its ban on non-residents travelling.  Of course, this isn't the same as the purpose of the petition, which is to strive for holiday-home owners to be exempted from the Schengen "90 days in a rolling 180 days" rule, which is an EU construct, not just Spain.

Kind regards,

Kim

I have come across a Petition, that is very important for owners that are not residents. If you know anyone that this affects, then please let them know, so they can sign petition.

Lobby to negotiate equal visa rights for U.K. citizens with property in EU area

Lobby the government to negotiate equal rights for U.K. citizens with properties in EU countries to those automatically awarded to EU citizens staying in the U.K., ie, 180 days in any 365 days. Not 2 x 90 day blocks as per current Schengen rules.

At the moment the U.K. government has granted EU citizens the right to reside in the U.K. for up to 180 days without a visa. By Schengen rules (which now apply to U.K. citizens as a “third country”) U.K. residents are only permitted to stay in their property in an EU territory for 90 days (including travel days) then leave the Schengen area for another 90 days before they return. In my opinion this was an abdication of the U.K. government’s responsibility to its citizens. Many of whose invested heavily in EU properties & who are now denied the right to use them as they choose.
