Hi to all expats in Torrevieja,

I am travelling to Alicante for Easter week.Is anyone free to meet me for a chat about life in Torrevieja where I hope to live one day when I retire.I promise not to take up too much of your time.

I am Irish/Welsh and currently living in Switzerland.I speak fluent French and English.

I am very sociable ,like keeping fit, cycling and walking.I also love singing, theatre, cooking and wine tasting.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Ursula

Hello Tessie,

Thanks for your reply(the only one 😄)

I recently saw a video of Torrevieja, and I completely agree with you.I don't find it so very pretty.I am now interested in moving to Alicante city,or just nearby on the outskirts 5 -10 mins away on foot.I don't drive which is,a great disadvantage but I am very active.Would like to find an apartment or house near the beach and shops. However,I don't want to be woken up by noisy holiday makers arriving at 5am banging doors etc,so that's why I am now thinking more towards buying a house. Can you recommend a reliable estate agent?

Where do you live? Would you recommend any other area which is quite lively but not 'Benidorm lively ' if you know what I mean.Alicante city seems quite charming .I also saw it on a video.I am visiting at Easter. If you are free,I would live to chat over a coffee or a sangria 😊

Ursula, I hope you had a nice easter holiday and still found friendly and helpful expats in and around Torrevieja.

Hi Ursula am back in Ireland but only.just.seen your message. Alicante would.be good and it also has a major train station  giving you.easy access to the rest of Spain. Hope you've managed to find somewhere you like and sorry I don't have any estate agents details.

Hello

In view of your completely incorrect comments about Torrevieja (just your opinion) your location says that you are still  there!!

Cheers

Hello Ursula & Tessie,

I find the comments you have both made about Torrevieja most unhelpful. People who have chosen to live in this lively, friendly and Spanish town will be astonished  at your views especially on a forum such as this.

This forum is about sharing and being respectful at all times. A personalised view which carries such a negative bias is really not helpful to anyone in my view. I hope you both have found somewhere that ticks your respective boxes.

I now live in Alicante. It's a very 'walkable' city, but you won't be able to walk to the 'outskirts' in 5-10 minutes - you'll still be in town.

Your best bet (if you haven't aleady arrived) is to get yourself to Plaza de Luceros tram station - the very centre of town - and buy a TAM Móbilis travel card. This is a top-uppable card which you can use to travel on the excellent Tram (metro) and bus system. That way you can get the lie of the land in the few days you are here. The tram also goes to the wonderful MARQ museum and San Vicente del Raspeig, which I consider to be the outskirts - I attend the University there.
