Hi I'm not necessarily going to buy I just want to see the properties what the size is and what is around the area only then will I know if the area is what I'm looking for and if it's big enough for my needs as it's too hard to judge with the way some pictures are taken

Totally agree that you need to see things for yourself. As you are not yet ready to buy, I would recommend that you travel independently, stay in a holiday let, (licensed one, of course!), hire a car and go exploring in between a few house viewings. Spend time talking to people that live in the areas you think will suit you, ask them questions about how things are at different times of the year under normal, non-covid times. Make a lot of notes, areas you like and don't like, property styles you like etc, and refine your own priorities regarding property and location. That way, when you do go back to view with the intention of buying you can be very specific about what properties you are wanting to view.

Hi we want to come out to buy a property in mid April. Can anyone recommend any company doing inspection trips please.

Thanks

Robbie and Sharon

Hi Robbie Sharon

Having been in your position my advice would be have a good look at the area research where you would like to be and come out on your own for an extended break so you can freely look around to see what is there and if its what you want.

I contacted a great guy called Alex on our second trip as we had already chosen properties to view he was brilliant, showed us areas we hadn't thought of and found the owner of the property we had wanted to view for 3 months which we eventually bought, I can pass his number on if you were interested.

Hi,

I am a Belgian agent and I advise you NOT to come on an inspection trip organised by an agent.

Arrange the trip yourself. If you do it through an agent, they will babysit you from breakfast and tuck you in at night ;-) , just to make sure you have no time to look at properties with another agent. You will have NO Freedom and be pushed to buy before you go back.

Look for properties online and make a list of what you want to see or look which agent has the most properties that suit your needs and make an appointment with him. Many agents collaborate with others so any "good" agent can show you any property. After finding the property, consult a good solicitor, they are more important then the agent when it comes to administration and money flows.

Good luck.  Always welcome to DM me if you want more advice.

Good advice, we nearly got caught up in that trap when we initially started looking in the mid 80s, as I said spend time researching where you think you want to be, scour the net for properties in the area, come out for a holiday have a look around make sure the area lives up to what you want visit surrounding areas as they may suit your wish list better, dont make the mistake of viewing in the summer and not in winter months as the area may not live up to want you are looking for.

Once you have decided on an area and house style we found a great guy as I have said to you but do use a separate solicitor from the agent as they will be working for you alone again I can srnd you details of who we used very good and ball park charges, finally make sure you make a Spanish will as this will save alot of hassle when required.

Good advice though from wiminspain nice to see 👍👍

The advice I have received from everyone here has been fantastic and got me thinking of things I hadn't considered before. I will make sure I go prepared when I go looking at property thanks again to everyone for your advice

Hi thanks for the advice I will get in touch with them

We also used Euro Prestige and found them to be excellent, no pressure on us to buy. We stayed in a lovely hotel and had all meals provided, were picked up after breakfast and viewed about three or four apartments before being left back to have the evening to ourselves to explore the area. We did end up falling in love with our apartment on the second day and bought it even though we had thought we’re only looking!!! Would definitely recommend Euro Prestige. The trip was £99 each but cost us a bit more as we took a suitcase.

We received a similar email from a large estate agent saying that the U.K. gov  had said we could travel to Spain in respect of buying a property etc, I must admit thought it was strange but did check the Gov site.  Thanks to you guys for confirming that even if we left the U.K. we wouldn’t be allowed in.  On another note, we booked flights using our last years voucher for 1 July and guess what Easy Jet have already cancelled the flight - seems a little early to be cancelling, maybe they know something we don’t?
