Hi, many of our rooms have textured paint applied to the walls and ceilings. Is it a specific paint type or a process that creates it

Thanks

As mentioned above Gotele is a coating applied and then painted usually matt or silk finish.

Thanks for both replies. Is it rolled on or sprayed

It’s  not textured paint, it’s the final layer of plaster. As previously mentioned it’s called gotelé and is usually sprayed on the plaster to give it a textured appearance. If you have damage to a small section, you can buy an small aerosol can to repair the plaster.

You just paint over the gotelé finish with normal interior wall paint.. You call buy a  gotelé roller suitable for  getting in all the little lumps and bumps., although I’m sure any normal roller will do.

Hi

you can find gotele at Leroy Merlin where they have a practice board under the cans

We tried spraying and managed to gain some knowledge and skill

I hope this helps

Re posts about gotele plaster

People need to be aware that, in Spain, gotele contained  asbestos until 1999. If your property was built before this then they need to be aware that crumbling or broken gotele is a health hazard, as millions of fibres of asbestos, smaller than the width of a hums hair are being released into the room and clothing hung on wales against it will become contaminated. Furthermore these will not wash out as it has a tendency to adhere.

That's a bit concerning. Is it the dangerous type of asbestos and how do you find out what you have?

All asbestos is dangerous. There is a firm in Elche that will test the material for you.
Amritsa, I think it’s called, or something like that. Just look up Asbestos testing in the area, on Google. It’s not expensive.
