We have same problem
new sewage system put in, all bells and whistles!!
The problem is they do no use what we call wicks on the toilets so the pipes are not sealed. need to put cement or silicone around the toilet .
BTW there are wicks available in the good plumbing shops. You could insist the plumber puts one on.

Thanks guys for all your responses, the contractor came today ,after a long wait ," I smiled widely but swearing some serious f'bombs under my breath , nothing will get done if you react badly. He went into my shower room ,no smell he said ," no dickhead I've poured 150 gallons of bleach and caustic soda, drain unblocker, pine cleaner, vinegar baking soda, down every hole in here,the devil in me said , but the lovely angel on my shoulder,said" no not now" . He flushed the toilet and yes there is a god it flooded, it flooded ,it flooded eureka. You see what I mean I said angel voice. "We will come back tomorrow rip everything out ,double check all the plumbing and put all back new. I promise he said. I can hear my nan "a promise is a comfort to a fool." Let's hope that I'm not the fool and it's all gets sorted. I want to start living that dream, come to Spain they said it will be fun they said. Fun my ass 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Caroline, I really do hope it gets sorted soon, It must be getting to be a bit of a real 'drain' on your patience.

No, no and no . I've gone to Alicante and got the 1st flight home ,as I felt myself going to use the C work , not lady like ,and I could taste drain , and as I don't speak Spanish and I can do is swear and swear .
