I was bitten today, I was in the water with my dog at the dog beach near La Zenia. The fish had a good bite on a mole on my back - quite painful, drawing blood. I've been swimming in the med for years and it's never happened before. Researching it seems they are juvenile sea bream - sharp teeth at the front of the mouth and flatter teeth at the back. I had been feeding them so had a few swimming around me.

Always carry a small bottle of vintager in your beach bag. A perfect remedy for jelly fish sting or fish bites. Salt is good to or wee on your bite. An onion juice great for stings. If a wound is flowing with the red stuff place tobacco on the wound, stops the wound from bleeding.

Vinegar works but NEVER pee on the wound. It will most likely make things worse!!

Hello, I can advise that I was in the shallow water off the island of Tabarca and I had 2 small wounds that did have scabs on them on one leg and a fish with a yellow stripe, wripped both scabs off down to the meat. It took more than 2 weeks for the wounds to heal.

I spoke with a Spanish man who was on the beach and saw bleeding leg and said,if you have a wound there are fish in the sea that will go for it. Have never experienced this before and have travelled extensively round the world. A bit disconcerting. Moral don't go in with any wounds, are the fish related to parranas?
