Hello Classic man

Yes indeed they are so strict  in the U.S & not just on gardens. My daughter lived on a sub division in Orlando Fl ( all one storey houses) where even the roof was checked..... if you didnt do sufficient 'maintenance' to your roof you got a letter from the  sub commitee and a ...

...set time, to get things done or they would get the work done &  add charges to your  annual fees.  The place was immaculate ha!

Cheers

Elinspain

Hi Elinspain

This is exactly how we found this out.  We had a small place in Kissimmee and fell foul of these rules more than once.just through not knowing.  They just used to send in the trades then bill you.

As you say everywhere was immaculate, not a blade of grass out of place, it would not dare!!

Idea: If the the owner doesn't want it and his sons don't want it, but the owner won't do anything about all this, why not ask the sons to accept it from their dad, then you buy it from them for a nominal fee - say £1000. Then do it up and flog it.

The sons probably don’t want it as it may incur inheritance fees. Not sure but that might be why. More trouble and expense than it’s worth.

Investigate EU regulations regards pernicious toxic weeds vegetation

If any such species contained in curtilage of said property

Then legal notice must be served

By Local Authority with a specified time scale of actions and in full compliance with the regulations

Failure to respond then issue compulsory notice whereby works undertaken and relevant charges imposed, failure to pay results in forfeit of deeds to public authority

Furthermore and on a H&S basis

Similar legislation may also exist

Seek specialist advise

The thing that I have found, times without number, is that EU legislation does not seem to apply in Spain. They make their own rules and even then they ignore them.

If I had your situation next to me I would go in with a big strimmer and just cut the lot down.  If it was to come to court, I would probably be dead by that time came around.  Then spray the lot with something like Roundup..

Good plan Premierone and a cheap solution too (no pun intended).  A bag of salt is only a few Euros.  Mix it up good and strong.

Hello All Forum Contributors, This may be useful information. I believe that a registered charity in Spain is exempt from inheritance tax if the property is a gift. I would approach a notary for a half-hour consultation to see if any Townhall department would be able to suggest a solution. My wife and I have this written into our Spanish wills as we have NO family with Spanish interests and the legal hassle can be handled by the charity commissioners. Best wishes, Peter132. It is not salt

Sodium Chloride is

Chlorate is systemic and a residual herbicide

Which means it is absorbed thru

Follige

But more importantly resides in the soil for many years only very slowly depreciating

Plant roots take it up and thats what kills them

The only way to remedy is to excavate the contaminated soil 450 mm deep, remove off site to a licensed tip, then replace with fresh clean sub and topsoil

Warning it is also a high risk fire hazard and occasionally in some circumstances ( rare ) be explosive

This sounds like just what I need here.  I have perennial weeds that I can't kill and every year I use gallons of Roundup at €62/5lit. trying to get rid of them  I have two big gravel areas that I would love to keep clear but I need to know if this stuff leeches sideways and would kill plants and trees nearby, in adjacent planted areas/beds. Any ideas?

Who sells the stuff?
