If you achieve resident status, you can have your UK state pension paid direct into your Spanish bank. The exchange rate used is very good and there's no charge, or there shouldn't be, for your bank to receive the payment. The actual payment level is the same as you would receive in the UK.

If you bank with Sabadell they will charge for your pension going into your account. But then again they are the worst bank in Spain.

I've been with Sabadell as a non resident for 1 year and as a resident for 7 years and I personally think they are ok. Their online banking app is perfect. How long have you been with them Comares?

For more than 10 years. Not all branches of Sabadell are the same. There are the original ones and those that were part of the Bank that they took over. They do operate differently. Mine was a  proper Sabadell. They told me that there would be no charges if I bought a Product. After that I was charged loads. They screwed up my account so one month after a Pension was paid in four days later I had 9.30 Euros for the month. When I complained they could not explain why and a cashier told me to economise. They told me that they could not give me a Credit Card statement showing debit and credits. They said, "We don't do that in Spain." I discovered that other Spanish banks do give proper statements.

I am now with N26 a Banking App that is brilliant.
