Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same disruption with postal service as we are in the Limonar-Paraje Natural area. The postman seems to have become a yeti, has not been seen by anyone lately, no mail whatsoever in the postboxes despite knowing for sure that mail has been sent to us from different places and countries as far as weeks ago.

I hear other communities in the area are facing the same disruption. IF and when anything comes through, (not in the last 3 weeks anyway), one gets several items posted from different places weeks from another and all arriving the same day, that can't be a coincidence in my opinion.

Does anyone have some hints with regards to this? I have read someone in a nearby urbanizacion complained officially and got a month worth of post all in the same day.

Besides cards etc there are important documents and forms going astray, this is now a serious problem for us.

Thanks for any suggestion.

My suggestion for any European country especially the South in August is to not expect anything open, phone calls answered, email answered and now it seems - mail delivered...

Sorry but I think you missed my point.

It's not just August, in our area this has become endemic up to the point where some official bodies have told us to collect some paperwork in person as they won't post them because 'it doesn't work' not my words but theirs.

I was expecting an important document in June, only got it mid July, bearing posting date of June 1st, so nothing to do with August. Reply letter from me (recorded tracked) took 2 days from reaching french postal system to being delivered and.... 23!!! days fron posting in Torrevieja to leaving the spanish postal system.

Please let's acknowledge that there must be a problem? We are not talking about postcards here but importand documents not being received and people not receiving their pensions as a result amongst other things.

Hope I made it clearer.

This has become an EU wide problem, that has been exaggerated by and blamed on Brexit. Most postal services are government owned/or operated and they now want to maximise profits, but at current prices this is not possible, so their solution is to make it as bad as possible, in order to swoop in and offer a solution at 3 or 4 times the price. Even here in Ireland, it is cheaper for me to get post and packages (both ways) delivered to Northern Ireland, and for me to drive 100km to collect/post my items

You  are in minority  when you  complain  about  Republic and  Ireland 🇮🇪  Postal service.  I  know it not perfect  but I  have heard anyone make the Same  Statement  that  you seem to  have encountered.  But certainly  think our  Postal  service  is  good. I  never hear any Complaints  about it on  the Phone in Radio shows like  Liveline/ Joe Duffy.

Hi Claudio

Maybe you should double check your address. This may sound daft, but for instance, when we bought our house the estate agent told us the address - and it took me at least a year to realise that it was wrong! We received mail ok,but only because the local postman was familiar with the issue.

Similarly, a nearby friend believed that their address was number 26 on their street, but when I gave them a lift in my car one day I initially went to number 26 - which wasn't where they had described it at all! They were actually at number 1, which is the entrance to a community within which they lived at house number 26!

To check, I suggest you look at the address on your electricity or water bill.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

My address is correct and I have owned this property long time, never had issue before until some times ago when others in this and nearby communities started raising the issue.

I will give an up to date example from just a couple of hours ago when I went to check our postbox which, like many in the area, is part of a vast array serving whole blocks of properties.

Nothing in our box but lots of mail scattered on top of the boxes, checked addresses and none of them related to our area, there was a pack of photo prints already opened and sneaked in by some nosey people, I bet original owner will be glad to know their photos ended up in someone else's hands? For good peace of privacy and GDPR...

If I were to be a postie and the addresses didn't match I'd take it back, not leave it on top of other peoples boxes, but maybe I am odd.... Not to mention finding mail, including official correspondence containing personal data just thrown into postboxes at random... sounds like "I've delivered" now off. I will take a couple of photos and post them just to give an idea of what I talk about.

I would be interested in knowing if others are experiencing the same situation.

Regards

Hello,

My thread specifically referred to the service in Torrevieja, thanks for sticking to this, other countries have their issues too but this is irrelevant to the purpose of the thread.

Thanks

Just as an update and should anyone need to log a complaint, Correos provide an online form which however is in spanish only.

Hope it helps, I have logged a complaint and will update on the outcome.
