Have you approached the authorities about this subject?

Putting your argument on a expat forum will not really help to get the message through. Perhaps a local petition might help.

No Steve I haven't as I'm a blow in, non resident but care about the elderly Spanish, Swedes, French, Expats, the Elderly just, I'm back and forth home to Ireland, but as a non resident nobody in authority would listen to me, but I thought perhaps some one on this site may have connections or contacts on the local authorities and if enough interest is generated in this subject perhaps they may act upon it, it's a topic for conversation

The beach bars were all being packed up and prepared to be removed today which is sad really as the weather is still rather wonderful.  We walked past the public toilet on our way to walk onto the boardwalk at La Mata and it was firmly locked. I’d expect it to be removed and gone any day now.

Public toilets are something we British/ Irish gave come to expect but  not  every country provides this service. I remember years ago being in Montecarlo and needing to go to the loo…. No such luck. I remember some place in Cypress and in Turkey where there were public toilets supervised by a person and a payment had to be made in order to avail of the facilities. Public toilets should be available but there should be a charge. Unfortunately, some people are thoughtless and leave toilets in a poor state with pieces of paper on the floor etc.,   You see this at the airport a lot.

I think we need to speak to restaurant owners and enquire what the is the norm with regard to using toilets in pubs etc.,  I genuinely think we should all place a donation into a box if using a toilet where you aren’t actually a patron. I don’t generally use public loos if I can avoid it but the same cannot be said for my beloved husband!!   We took our children to Paris a lifetime ago and our son wrote the usual essay on MY HOLIDAY. In the course of his rendition of the wonderful time he had going to the top of the Eiffel Tower and seeing MONA in the Louvre he stated that his father had been in every toilet in Paris!  We still laugh about this and it wasn’t too far from the truth!

l agree. l wouldn't mind paying for the use of a loo. We are often out walking along the coastal walks and sadly when the season is finished, there are no loos to use. We do manage to find somewhere for a drink and use their facilities. But not always. Would be a good idea if local authorities could leave facilities open with a charge 😊

Hi all, and thanks for the favourable debates, the positive observations are welcome, my younger brother is a phantom Tinkler, he has to leave his mark everywhere he goes, he's always been like that lol, it really would be appreciated by the community if toilets were kept open for all
