Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about getting the official "Letter of Invitation", obtainable from the police, which has to be sent to visitors from non EU countries allowing them to stay in a hosts private property. Apparently this law came into effect in February but travel agents in the UK don't seem to know anything about it yet, according to what we've heard, if any such guests come from the UK without this official form they can be fined and the host the intend to stay with can also be fined.

Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

Ignore it, nobody bothers and UK passport holders who have visa free access to the EU don't need it anyway.

Probably UK gutter press stirring things again!

Loads of threads on this. No, it is just one of the things that may be required but a return ticket will suffice anyway. Already posted that the Valencia Region authorities and the UK ambassador to Spain have stated they are not required.

Police have stated they are only necessary for those applying for a visa as part of the application and UK citizens travel visa free in the EU.

As Darro says, just some press getting hold of the wrong end of the stick.

I spoke with my Lawyer and she has advised me that UK citizens DO NOT need this Letter, My family are coming to stay in May.

Hope this puts your mind at rest

This link will take you to the official guidance as issued by the Spanish Government on the documentation that may be required from Nationals of third states when entering Spain

Which only serves to demonstrate the difference between theory and practice!

Remember these 'rules' have been in existence since 2018 at the very least therefore, if during the subsequent 5 years, UK visitors had been being refused entry because of non compliance one or more of the points then you can be absolutely certain that it would be universally known and talked about and I don't know about you but for my own part I know I've neither heard or read of as much as one single report of such a case.

Do let us know if you have.

The instructions also say "documents among others may be required" and lists a return ticket among other things.

I still stick to the UK Ambassador statement in the press that they are not required by UK visitors. Plus I've had several visitors over the last few years and none of them have been asked for a return ticket, enough money to last them, a carta de invitaction or even proof of any accommodation being booked. As quoted from a Valencian official, why do the guiris try and make it all so difficult?

For countries with Visa Free Entry  Status your Passport is sufficient documentation. Why is it just the Letter of Invitation that is being latched onto despite all the other documents that somebody requiring a holiday Visa would  need to have when applying to enter the Schengen area i.e  Application Form, a letter  from your employer or school/university confirming your employment status, health insurance, travel insurance, hotel reservation or letter from family or friend confirming your stay with them and proof of funds.

Funny how the "either or" and the "could" bits are always glossed over. They also fail to mention the same requirements are required for a foreigner to enter UK

From gov.uk

"You may be required to show you have sufficient funds of around £100 to £150 per day and financial documents showing that you have sufficient funds available. These must clearly show that you have access to the funds, such as: bank statements which detail the origin of the funds held. building society books which detail the origin of the funds held."

"The amount may be less if you can show proof you are staying with friends or relatives during your stay in UK."

Press doing the scaremongering bit again.
