I agree JohnGeorge with most of what you say. I'm not being negative but pointing out that although the vaccine roll out is a massive success in the UK. The figures are still high. I am from Manchester area too but lived in Spain for 2 years now, having owned a property for 16 years.

The roll out here in the EU and mainly Spain, because again this forum relates to Spain, is totally shambolic, but the figures are still lower than the UK. People are asking when they will be able to travel from the UK to Spain etc, but Spain has lower infection rates than the UK. Maybe the answe...

...r should be when UK figures are less than the country they wish to travel to, then they will be open to go. Spain is crying out for holidaymakers to boost the economy so are certainly looking to sort this mess as soon as possible. The problem is there are too many Autonomous regions here, all doing there own thing.

France is currently on lockdown in areas, but we have loads of French holidaymakers here now. We can't travel out of the Valencian Community into Murcia (for example) yet French and German holidaymakers can come here.

Don't forget Britain test 5 x more than spain hence why Britain has more cases , come on spain do your own thing and mobilize your people and vaccinate , sooner us brits can fill your bars and restaurants,

I cant wait to get back to La Marina. It'll be almost a year, since I  was last allowed to go and miss the place very much, the bars, restaurants, beaches and drives in land.

I live about 45 mins from La Marina. The beaches near me have been dead now for 12 months. This week it's absolutely packed...French and German tourists. I suspect many bars etc will not reopen which is a shame. My friend bought a bar just before the lockdown. Open a month then closed. They get permission to open with restricted numbers, then close again. Just a vicious circle.

Good point about the single dose - the UK took the decision to take this approach. It was questioned at the time but look at the UK stats and say it's not working. Death rate, the numbers in hospital and intensive care all dropping significantly, all because the single dose policy allowed so many more at high risk get protection from the covid virus.

The next few weeks will see many millions get their second dose, assuming the vaccines are available!  As of today in the UK at 28+million have received one dose, 2.2+ million have received two doses, in total over 30 million doses given.

A UK strain - it was discovered in the UK thanks to the genome sequencing capability that exists in the UK (something else that they got right). The strain could have come from anywhere, a bit like the flu epidemic in the last decade originated in the US but was called Spanish Flu.

It's not about comparing the UK to Spain, look at the infection rates in France and Italy, Germany looking at further lockdowns,  there you will see the impact of the slow vaccination rate. Getting ALL countries vaccinated is the way forward, the quicker the better. Rubbishing t...

Just seen on the UK news...The strain currently spreading across Europe is 'our home grown Kent variant'. I think this means not a Genome discovered in UK, but in fact a UK strain as I pointed out earlier.

This strain has been known for months, it was first detected in the UK late last year, known initially as the Kent strain, It was the reason that the UK went into lockdown just before Xmas and why a lot of EU countries banned most UK travellers. It was detected in the UK by the genome testing done here. It could well be a strain that mutated in the UK or it could have come from somewhere else. The virus mutates constantly, genome testing  which the UK excel at, is key to identifying different strains.  I am not sure what your point is?

The UK have completed around another 3 million AZ vaccines during the past 2 weeks whilst the EU bureaucracy have flip-flopped from banning AZ being used to banning it being exported. Meanwhile the covid inoculation program across the EU  continues at a snails pace, regardless of which vaccine is being given  Let's hope for the sake of summer travel that they get there act together sometime soon.

Well after all the hot air and slamming of the EU for the blood clot tests. Just seen on UK news that UK regulators are now investigating the blood clot situation after the AZ vaccination. I seem to think this was brought to light by EU regulators, so obviously not political as claimed.
