Hello Jim, all,

We have just bought the Staysure Travel and Medical Insurance following positive posts from others. It does not cover Covid (we do not think any insurance company does if you travel to France, Spain against FCO advice), but with the add on it covers all other existing health conditions and the us...

...ual cover for  accidents, illnesses, possessions etc. Our previous one would not cover anything so policy cancelled! We are still talking about a possible road trip soon in our new camper via Eurotunnel with limited contact on the journey to our house in Castalla, Province of Alicante area .The area is in the mountains and has v low levels of Covid infections. However the way it is going here in the UK the biggest problem could be border closures again?! I wonder when the UK Government will review these air bridges as soon we will all be at the same levels ugh!?

Scott, You are correct in every statement you make.

Kind Regards

    Jim

There are companies offering various insurance cover, obviously age related and at a price. Some previous posts give advice on this.

If Spain or specific areas of it were to go into lockdown as a UK resident you can and have always been able to return to repatriate to the UK. Your travel options may be limited however return in some way is always available.

Your EHIC will (until any changes resulting from brexit) always cover you for emergency treatment. If you were unfortunate to contract covid that would be a doctors/medical professional decision whether your covid symptoms were considered an emergency or not.

We feel very safe here, however if I contracted covid I would probably feel differently, so as always pays your money takes your chance.

Good luck !

Good advice

Really helpful positive post thank you. We must get back to our house in Castalla, only 2 weeks there this year and this has been our first year of retirement!? Hopefully a safe road trip with minimal human contact in our new VW Campervan and yes will feel as safe in Castalla ,Alicante province, in the mountains as in Devon!
