Yes but only on a Sunday. 🙂

No.
The restrictions say that you should only leave home for reasons which are essential or unavoidably necessary and be it 'nipping' or not there can be no possible way for a trip out simply to buy a newspaper to fall within that.
Are you not getting it yet, the restrictions are in place there for the protection of ALL and that includes YOU so please do the responsible thing and observe them.

In my opinion, it's much easier to look at the newspapers' websites to keep up to date.
If you're computer literate, then look at the following, which always has several of the UK newspapers available:

Hi, Robwatson2,. Well, we have a difference of opinion here.
Unless "something" in law has changed, (& I may have missed it, then sorry), then 3 weeks ago (for example hairdressers were allowed to open & continue trade) The hairdressers were included, & those working were classed as essential workers. That was rescinded and subsequently only allowed to work at (other´s) home/s.
As far as I´m aware, Correos ,IT outlets, papelerías, etc & others listed more obviously, food home consumption, fuel (heating & vehicle´s) pharmacies & those workers within those outlets are included in the essential list).
Movingon has used the word "nip", if you mean to say (within "reasonable distance") travel, then unless Movingon has more up-to-date legislation. I can not see the problem in law.
That aside, it´s for you to decide, that your journey is within the accepted travel.
Also (as Jim) has mentioned, there are alternatives to gain information via the internet. (as I do).
Finally, unless Movingon has uncovered this change in legislation, I stand to my original answer is Yes.
Hope this helps.

So,what's the point of paper shops being allowed to open?

Hi, Apart from being included under the legislation, to continue their permitted trade.

With all of this going on, I always ask myself "How badly will my life be affected if I don't and how badly could it be affected if I do?
