Just do a google search "Should I use the solicitor recommended by an estate agent in Spain" and take your pick.

The solicitor recommended by an agent would be working in the interest of that agent. This does not mean they would be doing anything illegal but IMO it does mean they 'could' rush the property conveyance through (for the agent!) without keeping the buyer completely in the loop and without giving the buyer all the information he may possibly need about the property.

Most buyers are new to buying in Spain and a good solicitor/lawyer, who is working in the interest of the buyer only, will keep them up to date and explain the process.

I have bought and sold a number of times in the UK and helped my children buy property as well and always choose an independent solicitor. Even when they may say there's a discount for using the sellers solicitor I always say no, as that solicitor is getting 2 fees and it could be a conflict of interest with them working on both buyer and sellers conveyance.

Choose a good solicitor with good communication by email and an informative website. If they don't have a decent website, don't use them as they may be too old school.

Maria Ginestar in Los Dolses 96676502. Spanish (which I believe to be advantageous). Both her and assistant speak English. Has been my Abogado for 15 years and has helped me out with number of issues. Excellent service reasonably priced.

Hi, can I recommend Susana Cobos, at CSB Consulting.es. Concepcion, 8-1A Apdo. Correos 602, 03181, Torrevieja,Alicante. Tel: 0034966701693. Had been recommended by a friend, as all her clients, and found her very efficient, friendly and trustworthy, and she has a great sense of humour.

Good Luck

Looking at other posts I’d recommend Nicoleta at Armarmat Consulting in Los Dolses. The fees were 1700  inc notary plus land registry and purchase tax. She was very helpful all the way through the process, and it turns out she’s also the administrator for our community.
