Perhaps it is showing no signal as you are on channel 252 Freesports, which was removed from Freesat a few years ago, so the channel list is not updating on the receiver...and it is not getting a signal to update..and it is using the last known channel guide.

If you are doing a factory reset, it will take you through the set up process with a wizard, and will check to see if there is a signal coming through....

If there is a signal, then the channel list will update to the latest one...where 252 is not there, and your ITV on 103 is ITV1 HD...

If there is no signal, then i suggest that there is an issue, as mentioned before, with your system somewhere , causing issues with both boxes playing up. My money would be on bad cable / water in cable / cable connection issue...

Thanks. It's interesting that you point out that the channel showing on the picture is from a while ago which prompted my memory that I had lent the box to a friend who was having similar problems to me today.  I have never used the box before today.  Well spotted.

Currently all's well with the old box and it's working OK. I shall have to explore how to get a factory reset and start from there.

Is there an easy way to check the integrity of the aerial downlead?  It is quite long  but not all of the run is exposed to sunlight or even accessible.

"I shall have to explore how to get a factory reset and start from there." - Menu, Settings, System Settings (I think), Factory Reset

"Is there an easy way to check the integrity of the aerial downlead?  It is quite long  but not all of the run is exposed to sunlight or even accessible." - walk along and physically inspect it. For areas not in the sun, check in areas / tubes where water can sit and get sucked up into the cable...or if not in a protective tube, check for slight cuts, and any connections where simple electrical tape has been used to try and waterproof the connections (rubber tape is 1000% better at waterproofing that electrical tape!)

I'll check out the line as far as possible but a lot of it is in corrugated conduit and tiled over.

I'll  go for a factory reset first and see what happens

"a lot of it is in corrugated conduit and tiled over." - well if that conduit allows rain water to access it (ie no drip loop at the ends or not siliconed closed) then that is probably where the issue is..

If I remember rightly the entry points of the conduit is turned down and facing the ground and grown over with various bushes, so sheltered, but I'll have to look.  It is at least 25m long.

It's doubtful now if I will be able to draw a new cable through as it's probably squashed somewhere underground.

I'll keep you updated.

UPDATE.   I have followed your instructions and I'm pleased to report that I now have a picture and sound with the 'new' box.  The factory reset did the job.

I think I'll leave the input cable till it's a bit warmer.  It seems to be working OK and the signal strength is very close to the top end of the bar as is the quality one.

Many thanks for your assistance........................Mike
