Why regrout a pool? - Cooking, Garden & Home & Pets

Why do we regrout pools?

We have to regrout a pool to keep the integrity of the structure,
with the glass tiles and fresh grouting in between the joints you have a watertight layer protecting the gunite and block work.

Missing grout can also lead to black spot algae which is a pain and and an expense to get rid of.

Pool tiles can also come loose leaving your pool patchy. This can be unsightly to the eye, and also gives algae a good place to bloom.

After five years it does not hurt to have a complete change of water in your pool. This will reset your CYA level (Cyanuric Acid).
This is what stabilises the chlorine in your pool, but too much of it will lead to you having to maintain a high chlorine level so that you can maintain sanitisation.

Pools need regrouting about every four to five years,
when a pool is grouted properly you will have the look of a brand new pool again.

Winter is just round the corner,
and regrout season will soon be starting.

Okay.

What is your process for a pool re-grout and how much do you charge?

Thank you for your time

Hello GcfromVc.

To regrout a pool first we drain the pool through the waste until empty, then we pressure wash the pool this removes any old grout that may not have already fallen out, once we are happy there is no old grout left in the pool we scrub the pool with acid this removes any excess material then we wash away the acid.

Then it's time to grout the pool, we grout pools with a rubber float this makes sure the grout is applied properly into all the joints.
After applying the grout we wipe excess off with a damp sponge then leave to dry until we see a mist once the tiles go misty it's time to remove excess with horse hair.

As for the price it all depends on the size of the pool the depth and location.
If this is something you would be interested in I would be happy to come see the pool to give you a quote.

Sorry for the late reply it's been a busy week.
