Hi

We've just bought a mobile home @ El Paraiso Caravan park near Albatera.

It will be our holiday home under the 90 day rules.

My hubby & I are both retired but under state pension age.

We both have a GHIC card but do we need to register with a doctor?

Thank you

You can't actually register with a doctor as a non resident. You can, at some health centres, show them the GHIC and they will issue you a temporary (paper) healthcard. However, the GHIC does not cover you for general medical treatment and that should be done with travel insurance. The GHIC will cover you for emergency treatment or necessary ongoing treatment such as diabetes checks, INR checks etc but not for a cough, cold or flu (unless it becomes really serious to become an emergency).

The temporary card is simply to stop you having to complete paperwork every time you attend and is normally valid for a 3 months period.

The GHIC will cover you for emergency treatment at an A&E centre but not for any after care that may be required.
