Is anyone selling an 18 inch boy's bike please? It's just for the odd time our grandson comes over as he's grown out of the last one so not looking for anything special, just safe. His old one at 14 inches is also looking for a new home.

Propane prices - 17 replies
Prices for bottled gas were discussed a while back and we just got a delivery of 7 bottles from Cepsa at €15.71 per bottle, ordered yesterday, delivered to the door today. Apparently Repsol prices are regulated by the government so if anyone has had any propane from Repsol it would be interesting to see how closely Cepsa meet the price.
Linea Directa - 3 replies
I have just spent well over an hour trying to cancel renewal of my car insurance with Linea Directa. First the inevitable "All our agents are busy", then the hard sell and the offer of a reduced price - not interested - Have to be rude to get them to understand that I WILL NOT be renewing with them. Then I am told that a form will be sent which I have to sign and return and I must take down the return email address as it is not on the non-renewal form. Then they cut me off before giving me this address. Repeat all the above. I then received the email, printed it off, signed it, scanned back on and attached it within the customer area, so I didn't need to return by email at all. Then I received a text saying the policy will be cancelled from today. By now I am at boiling point. I ring them again, repeat most of the above and when finally through to an advisor am told policy is to be cancelled at renewal. But this is not what the text says, the text says it will be cancelled from today. It actually says "We have successfully handled your NON RENEWAL request. We confirm your policy will be cancelled on 16/12/2025.
My policy renews 16/01/2026
I will never, ever, ever consider leaving Alfonso at GranAlacant Insurances again, however much cheaper Linea Directa are.
So true. - 9 replies
Stolen from elsewhere. Today we moved indoors from the covered terrace. We now have central heating and insulation but that first winter was miserable.
It’s That Time of Year Again… When Spain Forgets What Temperature It IsAh yes… that magical season when Spanish houses become colder than the outside world and every expat questions their life choices while wearing socks in the living room. You start your day like a proper Spanish onion — layer after layer of survival gear:
Scarf (check)
Jacket (check)
Long-sleeve (check)
T-shirt underneath, just in case the sun decides to show off (check)
You step outside and feel like you’ve nailed it.But fast-forward to 2 p.m. and suddenly you’re melting like mozzarella on a tosta.
That scarf? Gone.
The jacket? Forgotten. (Probably in the car, the office, or at the ayuntamiento while you were waiting for your cita previa.)
Now you’re walking home in a tank top like, “Wasn’t it winter this morning?”
Then comes 7 p.m. — you open the door to your house and BAM:Welcome to the Frozen Yogurt Aisle of Spain.
It’s sunny and 25°C outside, but inside it’s December in Siberia.
You’re wrapped in a blanket, holding your coffee like a survival tool, wondering why your home feels like an unheated Airbnb in the Arctic. You debate lighting the fireplace, but then you feel guilty because… it was hot at lunch.
And somehow, this internal conflict defines Spanish autumn.
So, if you came to Spain chasing sunshine and “mild Mediterranean weather,” surprise! You’re about to experience thermal whiplash — shorts by day, ski socks by night, and a love-hate relationship with your persianas.
Spain in November: where houses are colder than your ex, and you’ll lose at least one scarf before Christmas.Gardener Required - 0 replies
Can anyone recommend a gardener? We have a large garden with olive trees which needs a good tidy up then possibly once every six weeks to keep it down. We need this up until March 2026.
Parking in Guardamar - 2 replies
We are taking our family to Guardamar late this afternoon/ early evening mainly for the Reina Sofia Park, the stalls and the fairground. I am restricted with walking and use a walker but don't have a disability sticker. Is it clear where you have to pay and where it is free please? I'm happy to pay but don't want to get fined for parking where we thought was free!

State Schools in Albatera , Elche , Crevillent , Catral , Almoradi , Cuidad Quesada for English Child - 8 replies
Hello , Does anyone personally send their child to a school around this area or know of someone who does. My daughter has just turned 9 and we plan on living in Spain for life not for a while so after speaking with people who have done similar would like to send her to a state school so she can learn the language and make life long friends.
We have viewed Willow International School in Cuidad Quesada which is lovely but very small classes and speaking english won't benefit her in the long run, my daughter is 9 years old knows very basic spanish such as colours and numbers no where near enough to have a conversation.
I would ideally like to find a state school with a couple of british kids (even 1) in her class just to make that initial few months bearable , if anyone that can help me please let me know , the school is the most important thing about our move to Spain if shes happy were happy and can buy a property around that area. Many thanks Joe
