The problem is with sending sterling to a foreign bank because that will always attract charges, not to mention almost certainly further losses due to rubbish exchange rates.

I'm with Caxia and if I want to transfer money from UK I do it via Wise where I first convert the sterling to Euros and then transfer those.

I have never been charged 1c by Caxia for that.

Similarly my UK pension is transferred into Caxia each month but as it comes in Euros there is no charge for receiving it.

Hi as Darro says open a Wise Account. I’ve had one for many years. The exchange rate is far better and the fees are low, transfers in Euros usually take minutes to arrive into your Spanish bank account and no receiving charges are taken by your bank as Wise use an EU IBAN .

Here’s the link.

I'm with Sabadell and ì do the same as Darro and use Wise to transfer money and have Pensions paid directly into the account. Never been charged a cent!!

Yes i have been sending money for 16 years and it has only started doing the last couple of days,i tested it twice more with a 1oo euro and every time,it charged me 15 euro,if this is the case,i,m going to have to send big lumps of money to keep the cost down.

You need to ask your bank exactly what the charges are for as if the charges have only been applied recently there could have been a misunderstanding. Those charges don't seem right......

This recently happen to us after we paid a tradesman for some work. They got charged 15 euros, it was a Starling Euro account to Caxia account, it had never happened before when paying him. They refunded the charge. Talk to the bank.

I too have a Starling Euro account which has an IBAN prefix of GB and this is why the charges are levied in Spain since we left the EU.

I also have a Wise Euro account which has a prefix of BE as Wise' account is based in Belgium therefore no charges.

I like my Starling account but not as flexible since EU exit.

Ken.
