You need to pay non resident tax. Search MOD210. It is due around September for the previous year. Due quarterly if you rent.

Hi Porter

Thanks for the info.

Regards

Frank.

Bear in mind Frank, they don't send you a bill or remind you. It up to you to pay.

You always pay for the previous year so depending on when you bought your place last year's may have been paid by the previous owner.

Speak to your lawyer if this is the case

We got the property one week before Xmas 2018.

I’ll get it checked out ASAP, let you know how I get on.

Thanks,

Frank.

Hi Al 113 - no-one chases you up for the annual non residents tax but I understand that you can eventually be fined for non payment and it would certainly come to light if and when you came to sell your property and then all the back tax plus a fine would be taken from the proceeds of the sale. Its really easy to sort it out - I used Spanish Tax Forms online - I can't remember how much they charged but it was really cheap. The tax is based on the catastral value of your property which can be found on your IBI (SUMA) receipt. If you co-own the property e.g. with your partner, you both have to submit an individual tax return but the tax payment is the same. Spaniah Tax Forms will also submit your forms and the tax payment on your behalf for an additional £12. I just filled in a short form online - they did everything for me & sent me a receipt as proof that it had all been done and I transferred them the payment - incredibly easy!

I'll pm you some info later today, that'll give you an idea of monthly costs. Someone did that for us and it was really helpful.

A lot of people think there's no costs when your not there which is sadly not true. Your'e doing things the right way round👍

Hi Craig sorry to butt into your conversation. I  bought a  a house in San luis last Sept. But unfortunately not been able to get out due to covid. Would you be able to send me some info as well about broadband. TV if we can get English channels. Hopefully we'll be able to get over by summer if alls good

No problem Sandra, these conversations are for everyone so never feel you're butting in😁

What I know about broadband is a bit limited.

We're with Ole  Communucation. We initially paid €35/month for broadband which obviously had wifi and a TV package which was a cut down version of UK freeview. It was pretty poor.

We ditched the TV part of the deal last year and now pay €25/month for broadband / WiFi. This can be suspended for up to 3 months of the year when we're not there saving €75 / year.

We don't have a satellite dish but I believe you can get freeview. You need a fairly big dish I'm told as the signal in southern Spain is weak. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help.

Oh goodness - you must be desperate to get over there - fingers crossed you will be able to soon! We bought in Nov 2019 & I managed one week there before the pandemic hit but we were very lucky that we managed to get there in July, Sept & Oct & just worked from home for the isolation periods! Anyway, don't worry about the non residents tax & form submission - it's very easy to get someone to do it for you. The tax for a full year would depend on your property's catastral value but its generally around €150 - 200 at the most ( unless you own a mansion 😁) I checked with Spanish Tax Formd online & they charged us £34.99 for the tax form & £24 total to arrange the tax form submission & payment for us. You have until the end of December to submit for 2020. You should only have to pay from Feb to Dec 20 so then you're all straight and won't be arrested at the airport and deported 😉😂 your tax for 2021 won't be due until next year before the end of Dec 🙂
