Since moving back to uk for a while I have noticed the electric is so much cheaper in spain for a 2 bed apartment it was 69 e per month over 12 month period for 2 bed apartment ,have a 4 bed house here and last month was 20 pounds and my smart meter is reading 24 pound this month .can't say about the gas as they could not fit smart meter but provider is suggesting 40 pound per month payment for both.

Bit confused, you say Spain is cheaper at 69€mnth (electric only) 2 bed apt, whereas in UK would be £40 approx for gas and electric in 4 bed house? Have you not got that wrong way round, UK is cheaper, plus UK Vat is 5%, Spain Iva is 21%?

Spain is dearer by some considerable amount , approx 20 +pound a month in Uk for 4 bed house,69 e per month in spain for 2 bed apartment based on last year's bills .
Not sure on gas as no smart meter but our utility company is asking us for 40 pounds per month for both .

£20/month for electricity in 4 bed house? Are you living by candlelight, as £20 barely covers the standing charge! Let us all know when your readjusted bills come through.......
Spoke to neighboor who has the same house and she has been here 8 years her monthly payment is 50 pound per month gas and electric and she states she is in credit at the end of the year.
After 15years paying Spanish electric I must say I am very surprised and the smart meter is reading 26 pounds on electric which is due tomorrow .

I’m in a two bed flat in Scotland and I’m paying £86 for gas and electric. I think I’m going to be better off in Spain even tho the standing charge is higher
Electric is very expensive in spain and you have to run AC in summer
