I know a couple who rented there house for 4 years

As soon as they went someone else moved in for a long term rental... I know that legally you can live in Spain for 161 days

I think I will stand corrected 😎

183 days

I'd have a look in Guardamar - I bought a flat near the sea 18 months ago & been offered 30k more than I paid for it. I do not rent it, but I did buy with that in mind for the future - the rental sites tell me I can get between €650-€850 per week peak season (3 bedrooms). Very popular with many Spanish & Europeans.

Spanish properties can/do go up - but you need to be careful where you pick. Nearer the beach in popular rental locations. Also beach properties or those with something 'interesting' will sell/rent - you just have to avoid the 'me too' type properties. At 50k you may find a one bedroom somewhere a few blocks back from the beach in Torrevieja - not sure Guardamar, possibly.

A friend of mine has also bought a couple of properties in Alicante city for around €30k each, let out instantly to local workers. At 30k a pop, they can't go down that much & he has done this with the long-term view for pension.

Moncayo properties Guardamar are quite helpful if you want to look in that area.

Hi Thank you for your advice. Yes i have found few properties but could not find a mortgage broker in Spain yet to sort out my mortgage.

Do you think i can get a mortgage from the UK lenders to buy a property in Costa Blanca?

What types of properties the 'me too' properties are to avoid?!

Thank you

I think ideally you need to firstly speak to the banks rather than a broker - there's few English brokers as such in Spain.

Estate agents, usually have a recommended individual or bank and can sometimes play 'go-between' for the translation.

As for specific deals, couldn't state as not needed myself. Couple of starting points perhaps on the links below.

https://yourspanishmortgage.es/lp/spanish-mortgage/?src=google&ref=search&gclid=Cj0KCQiA28nfBRCDARIsANc5BFC72OcPgqtReHFMZNlxj5wmF7GJe3EJfPfXyQE9SGux2CWi9PkbvAsaAtCeEALw_wcB   Mortgages in principal.

Another option would be to look on the specific bans repo websites - for example Sabadell bank repo's - if you can find something on the banks own websites (also usually in English), you'll be able to cut more of a deal with the bank.
