I wonder if anyone can help with this! A friend of mine was due to come here on Saturday hoping to get residency but initially fir the 90 day stay! She had her negative COVID test certificate, but they wouldn’t let her on the plane saying she needed a NIE card( why would she if she’s not getting residency first) She then booked another from another airport and went there but the same thing happened. Has she got it wrong trying to come now? Have they turned her down post Brexit because she says she wants to be a resident? Should she not be coming now? When she booked the flight they only told her about the COVID test

Thanks for the swift reply Dave! So if she doesn't have residency, she can't come over for a 90 day stay due to covid? That's all I can think of!

Only residents, people with residency appointments, citizens and cross border workers are allowed into Spain at the moment, post Brexit your friend needs to start the residency process from the UK now. I'm assuming she's from the UK as you mention Brexit.
Has the UK started allowing international travel now then? I thought it wasn't due to start yet.

No they haven't apart from a limited number of reasons. A report outlining plans for international travel will be presented on 12/4 with earliest possible travel possibly 17/5

They allowed her to go through the procedure at the airport but stopped her boarding! Thanks Dazz
My friend in the UK has asked for any helpful I nformation as to how one would start the process of residency from the UK, bearing in mind she has an address here but wouldn't be able to get a Padrean while living in the UK.

If you take a look at the N332 Facebook page you will find up to date rules and regulations in respect of the virus. They recently posted an 11th update. The page, and their website that deals with anything to do with driving in Spain, has been keeping us up to date regarding the virus since March 2020. Both the page and the website are run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.
