can you change your freesat postcode. If southern signal is poor, put in a postcode form further north. I use PE11 4JS in Lincolnshire

Good suggestion but I would not get the Southern news.

I still don't know what's going on as I am being told to switch to channel 101 as BBC 1 has moved. With that done my signal on this channel is worse than it ever used to be. It's OK some of the time but others there is nothing there at all, then will reappear later in the day.
If we are now supposed to be on HD why is the signal so poor?  All my other HD channels work fine except when there is thunder about or sometimes in summer, I can live with that.

As I explained in a previous post (Wed Feb 1, 2023 7:20pm) , BBC One South HD is currently on a TEMPORARY frequency.

This temporary frequency is right at the other end of the scale of frequencies (12168) and thus weaker than where all the other BBC frequencies are (10773 - 11023). Which is why you say all the others work fine, just not this one.

They had to do this for this one region to make space before all the changes could go ahead.

It will move to a proper BBC owned frequency by the end of this month, when all the changes have been completed. And then you will see an improvement in the reception. Unless you have the wrong sized dish for where you are, poorly aligned, poor LNB, poorly aligned LNB, warped dish, poor cable etc which will also affect the signals. But in theory if you can get all other BBC HD channels (BBC News HD is a good one to try with it being on the weakest BBC HD frequency), then you should get all other BBC HD frequencies when everything has settled down.

"I still don't know what's going on as I am being told to switch to channel 101 as BBC 1 has moved. " - yes, the one BBC One HD channel will soon no longer exist (Freesat 106 / Sky 115). No need for a BBC One HD version with no local news, when all regions are now in HD and can offer local news. Hence why you are being told to go to 101... as that is now your local BBC One HD region, with local news.

"If we are now supposed to be on HD why is the signal so poor? " - HD channels are always slightly weaker than SD channels, just how the transponders on the satellite have to be configured for the large increase in the amount of data.  So going HD does not make the signal better!

Thanks again for the informative update.  So long as I know it's only temporary, I'll live with the blank periods.
