We never actually went to Benidorm as such, my mother lives just outside Calpe, so that was where we went, which is some 20 km further north. Four days is reasonable, three days is pushing it a bit too much. If you want to meander through France and slowly down the national roads, not using m/ways, then allow five.

We take a different approach and just want to get there.
We leave NW England at about 5am. We then arrive at our house in Villamartin about 1pm the following day. Share the driving with the wife. With having very large dogs and a full car we just want to get there which is why we do tolls all the way. It's hard work but we stop every 3 hours to give the dogs and stretch and have a sleep stop for a few hrs. Worth it to just get the house quicker.

Entirely agree with you that this can be done. It is a question of what one wishes to do - we just found it too exhausting to do it effectively in one hit. But we didn’t have dogs!!!!!!
Only one way.....after 20 yrs..... Santender (o)Bilboa. Portsmouth o Plymouth. Enjoy a mini-cruise. V
Thanks for the reply
How long do you stop each time for a break / sleep
We were hoping to do the journey over 2-3 days do you think that is realistic?

The dogs is the major factor for us. Some hotels allow dogs, but have a limit on the size. My dogs are 50kg each. If we didn't have the dogs I would probably do a stop near Bordeaux. As this is for us is the mid point from NW England.

Yes, you can do it in that time, see other replies, it’s whether you get too tired.

7 hrs to Calais
11 Hrs to San Sebastian (Spanish Border)
8 hrs to Villamartin
10 mins dog walk and stretch every 3 hrs.
90 mins sleep near Bordeaux / Bidart
60 mins sleep near Pamplona.
Usually about 30 hrs door to door.
All about the appetite of the driver. Make a holiday of it and overnight a few times on the way. Or go for it and get there quicker.
The boat isn't an option for us as because of the dogs. It costs about £ 500 more and takes about 6 hrs longer.
Thanks we are looking to stop overnight roughly 6 hours from Calais
Where would that be roughly? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your replies

Depends on the route you go. If you look at my route, the details are earlier in this thread I would say Poitiers is about 6 hrs from Calais. If you hit the road the following morning at 8.30am you would get to Benidorm for about 9pm.
