I don't have a dog but a couple of friends do and at this time of year they only take the dog out early morning or later in the evening as the daytime temperatures are to hot and the pavement will scorch their pads.

Thanks Steve, my question was more about how we get the dog there i.e. on the plane as we've always left her with family for the usual 2 weeks summer holiday, but thanks for getting in touch. Take care buddy.

I am on the understanding there are pet carriers based at some airports, I would suggest you do a on-line search who and where the carriers are. don't forget the doggie jabs, brexit style, good luck.

That's great Peter, thanks a lot. Take care Ian.

A warning - these "pet" carriers can be upwards of €500 for the flight and the animal might not even be on the same flight as you..
Easier and less expensive to drive or ferry here.

Thanks Ray, my God i didn't think it would be that much, will have to re-think, maybe driving might be better for the dog as well and it would save the cost of hiring a car for 3 months. All the best.

KLM allow dogs on the plane with you.
However, as already stated its probably better to drive down atm.
Hi apologies if you’ve already checked out Defra on https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abroad
I would also recommend that you get a Scalibor collar ( or equivalent) for your dog, they last roughly 6 months.
I always drove over with my dog via France but maybe with all that’s going on with travel restrictions etc. the ferry to Spain might be a better option. They do however seem to get booked up pretty quickly, as your dog has to go in a kennel on board, there are a few cabins that allow dogs in them. I looked at flying him over but the cost as Ray says was roughly £500 each way and that was a good few years ago.
If you do go via France and need cheap overnight accommodation Premierclasse & B&B allow dogs, I was charged €3 for the dog. The rooms are clean but basic,TV and own shower. I’d give F1’s a miss shared toilets & showers.
Regards
Anne

Thanks Anne that's really helpful, this sounds the way to go. We are not planning to go to Benidorm until January so it will give us plenty of time to plan. Thanks so much for replying and take care. IAN KNOX.
