I would suggest opening an online bank account with Wise bank based in Belgium.
Fees are small compared with Spanish banks.
Direct debits can be set up for all fees and utilities in Spain.
Sterling easily converted to euros ,plus you get a debit card for a small charge .

Do not whatever you do open an account with Sabadell Bank, I've been trying to close my account with them for weeks now and just because I took out there home insurance I'm going round in circles and ending up nowhere. They charge €40 a quarter which is extortionate seeing as we only used it for dds .We have a Wise euro account and have changed all our dds to that and don't pay any fees

I absolutely agree.
They even charged me for lifting all the money in my account and closing it.
