Touchy? No. Frustrated trying to make sense of the seemingly random things coming out of your keyboard? Yes.

You've gone from calling me a lemming for talking about the UK's genome sequencing work on the virus, to making ill-thought-out comparisons between the UK and New Zealand. Without ever bothering to actually explain any of the nonsense you type. ...

...

The comparison is that both are an 'island'. I dont see that as I'll thought out. Water all the way around makes it an island. Difference is they closed their borders, UK didn't.

That's like comparing a juggernaut with a tricycle because they both have wheels, but regardless, what has that (bad) comparison got to do with my comments on the UKs genome work?

Sorry should have been a little clearer. The Indian variant cases doubled in under a week (not total cases). Which shows how it will take hold if not dealt with quickly

Okay, that makes sense. It is starting from a low base but it's amazing how it can spread so quickly.

Look at this. Size is irrelevant

The meaning of an Island from the Oxford ENGLISH Dictionary.

islandnoun [ C ]UK  /ˈaɪ.lənd/ US  /ˈaɪ.lənd/ A2a piece of land completely surrounded by water:I think a perfect comparison 🤔

"Size is irrelevant"

You might have managed to convince yourself of that. But it's really not.

Oops there goes another one...

An island is an island no matter how big or small. Surrounded by water.

No, Aitch, the rate of the Indian variant infection in the UK has TRIPLED in a week:

"The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) met on Thursday to discuss the highly transmissible variant after UK cases tripled in a week from 520 to more than 1,700....."

The last information from the WHO is that the Indian variant has been identified in 44 countries worldwide and almost half the total number of cases are in the UK.

Surge testing has been launched in 15 areas of the UK, including Bolton, Blackburn, Formby, Tyne & Wear, Derbyshire, South Northamptonshire, Bedford, Colchester, parts of London and Scotland.  The First Minister of Wales has already suspended easing of some of Monday's Step 3 restrictions, and while BoJo has suggested that the 21 June lifting of Step 4 restrictions in England may need to be reviewed, we wait to see whether Monday's planned easing of Step 3 restrictions will go ahead as planned 🤔

Yes, the strain is a concern, though the overall weekly cases have gone up by around 10% in the UK and deaths continue to fall.  I have not read of any immediate changes in the UK government lockdown easing plans. I did not see last nights TV update.

Still waiting to see if the current vaccines protect against this variant, probably too early to say. The people who are most likely affect by this strain in the first instance are the one's who have the lowest uptake in vaccinations.
