For something different to think about.....Who is planning to live in the fantastic city of Benidorm in the near or distant future?

Benidorm is a vibrant and exciting holiday destination for hundreds of thousands of people every year. There is something for everyone relating to the holiday they expected. Living here as a permanent resident is a different matter and some don't realise that there is masses of paperwork and information to supply to the authorities to achieve legal residency.

Who is actually got an action plan to come here to live permanently and who is actually progressing forward?

Me and my better half spent 10 years planning our move here by sussing out suitable areas to rent property and learnt, in detail, about all the laws etc relating to long term rental. We read about everything to do with the legalities of living in Spain such as healthcare and getting your NIE number, banking and paying taxes to the Spanish government instead of the UK. I personally retired a couple of years early just to move here to this relaxed and exciting country.

Let's hear your plans 😀

Hi Jack,

You will need to sign onto the foreigners register within the first month of arrival in Benidorm.

This may help:

I already have my NIE number and a Spanish bank account with Sabadell Bank in Benidorm, so do I just apply for residency when the time comes, and is that after a year or straight away?

I also own my Apartment outright, as I paid for it in Cash through my British bank account, the whole deal took me 2wks and I was handed the keys of the Apartment, which was very surprising, as in England it can take 6mths or more if you are lucky!

As you have an EU passport you don't need to apply for residency but you must sign on the foreigners register at the police station within a month of arrival in Benidorm.

The link to the Irish embassy website explains everything.

Let's hope you enjoy living here in Benidorm. I have lived here for 8 years and enjoyed every day.

Steve

I've been going for the past 2yrs and really enjoy it, made good friends with a Spanish bar owner who treats me like family, she even invited me to the opening of her new bar and for New Year celebrations where she laid on all the food for the customers around 30  her name is Maria and her bar is on the corner of Avenida de Europa at the first round about going out of Benidorm called Cervereria Maria! I'd recommend it to any one €1.80 a pint and Tapas with every drink, you can also order a meal there as well! Plenty of outdoor seating as well!
