Hi Steve,

That's an interesting question!  Not least because getting an appointment at Alicante foreigners' office is extremely difficult at the moment.

In your position, I'd be thinking of making preliminary enquiries with a gestor in Spain, to check what tolerances the Spanish system may allow in the event that you can't get an appointment within your first month.  Personally, I would expect that, so long as your application has been submitted online in Spain, you will have met the "apply within 1 month of arriving" requirement, even though you won't have had your fingerprint appointment - but it probably makes sense to have that confirmed. I know a gestor who deals with Alicante foreigners' office, so I'll ask him and get back to you.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim. I knew I had just over 3 months to enter Spain, but didn't realise I had to apply for a residency permit within a month of arriving, so that's good to know. Is that done within Benidorm (e.g. Town Hall?) Steve

Hi

If you e mail the embassy in Manchester and tell them your financial circumstances they will come back to you

They answered me in 20 minutes I tried London as well and they took a week

Thanks Michael. Did you move on the Non Lucrative Visa, or did you beat the deadline? Steve

You guys are the trail blazers.  I'm sure your continued feedback about the process, what worked well (such as Michael's recommendation to contact Manchester, rather than London, for a quicker response) will be very useful to others - and any difficulties about the process you encounteršŸ‘

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Kim

We are also gathering information for this application.  As I understand it, you can only use the consul that is in your catchment area. For example Iā€™m in north of England. Durham and have to use Edinburgh and they have been very quick to respond to my questions?  The bit that I canā€™t clarify are the visa fees, I can see ā‚¬80 and it says there may be further fees and it does say the fees are between ā‚¬73.25 and ā‚¬516 .Can anyone tell me where to find this information definitively?

Confused??
