Thanks so much for that info. I get what you mean, Benidorm is more parties and booze, Torrevieja is quieter. Would you say Torrevieja has a smaller Brit community compared to Benidorm or similar?

As for rent, it does look like you get more for your money in Torrevieja, i have seen good two bedroom apartments at 500 monthly, that would be unheard of in Benidorm based on my research on apartments...

...

Have you also considered the thought that torreveija is cheaper rentals to "try" to attract people.

Raybenidorm has an historically poor view of Benidorm for some reason and should at least change his forum name.

I really would not know if Torrevieja has cheaper rentals to try to attract people. I know how things work where I am in west Spain, but not la costa blanca. Either way, as my work as an English teacher isnt the most stable type of income, it does look like Torrevieja would be a better move finance wise and generally does seem nice based on videos and photos I have seen. Benidorm looks nice too, if there were rents similar to Torre, prob I would go there

Hi many thanks for the reply John. Ironically idealista.com is the website that keeps throwing up limited monthly or seasonal rentals rather than all year rentals. if you know of any other websites or people who are looking for tenants all year round  (2 bedrooms ) around 650 euros a month, ...

...please let me know. The very few yearly ones I have seen seem to be way more than 800 a month, maybe those are the all year ones?

They advertise even though they aren't available because they legally have to until the tenent has signed the new contract then they remove the listing. Thats why it can be on there months in advance. We learnt that whilst we were looking to move and one of my clients has the same problem, the cheap ones usually are unavailable. However we used a woman called Monica and got a huge 4 bedroom with land at €600 a month but that's 10km outside of Benidorm.

I would recommend having a holiday in the surrounding area of both because you might not like either once you have actually moved. Personally I don't like Benidorm and couldn't live there, I prefer being in the surrounding area. If you're into cycling (guessing by your forum name) there are lots of scenic cycle routes in La Villa Joiosa which is where I live and also in the surrounding mountains near Benidorm, La Nucia. La Nucia is actually a stunning place to live, right next to the mountains and very cheap, we had a 3 bedroom 450 a month

Is there any particular reason you are looking into the Costa Blanca? Spain has a massive British expat community in the Costa del Sol aswel. With some lovely areas and it's a little bit warmer in winter, not much but a little.

Thanks so much for that info. Yes, I am a keen cyclist, used to race on the road and these days on Strava to see how fast I can get on climbs. I did notice Benidorm is near some mountains.

You mentioned a big flat at 600 a month you got, sounds impressive. As you said, it may be because it was some km away from Benidorm, makes sense.

I think you are right, we need to visit both Torrevieja and Benidorm first , but its not always down to which is nicest but which is easier on the rent.

Thanks again

Basically because the costa del sol is generally much more expensive on rental prices.

Hi, where are you living at the moment? I ask because Western Spain covers different provinces, I know most of them, so could give you a good comparison with the Costa Blanca, or even inland Alicante province

Cheers, J

Hi,

from a cycling viewpoint the Benidorm area must be the better choice. My neighbour here in the UK is a keen amateur cyclist and he regularly goes on cycling holidays to Benidorm, to cycle in the mountains/hills near the resort. It's a very popular cycling area. Benidorm probably has better public transport, with rail links up and down the coast.

I would agree with others that it is best to visit both areas before making a decision and there are probably good locations just out of the centre of either towns that would be cheaper to rent.

Rgds,

Aitch.

For cycling I would definitely consider the surrounding areas of Benidorm for practicality because you're alot closer to cycling areas but still have a good expat community. For example in summer you can cycle uphill to guadalest and you will see only a handful of cars and about 7562 cyclists (maybe not exact on the numbers but you got the point🤣🤣🤣🤣) . And for renting it's a lot more value for your money.

Sounds good cycling terrain, defo more climbs than Torrevieja. By the way, which surrounding areas do i look up for rentals near Benidorm? I imagine you mean small villages not far from Benidorm?

Cheers
