Hi,

A bit of advice needed please. In September I will have been living in Spain for a full 5 years and will be entitled to become a "Permanent resident".

Do I need to do anything or will the dates be sufficient on my residencia card (Green credit card size certificate) to prove ive been here 5 years.

Is there anything different on a Permanent residencia card?

Is there anything I need to make a start on now to get in place?

Thanks for your help,

Steve.

Someone will come along with exact advice I'm sure. Your 5th birthday means you will be a permanent resident before the possible EU exit in October so that in itself is good news.

I think you'll have to make an appointment at your local Policia Extranjeros to get your card changed to the new one. I would use a gestor for that but you might be able to do it yourself fairly easily.

The only difference is that your new residency card would have the word 'permanente' on it. But that's only as a citizen of an EU country.

Don't waste your time applying for it.
