This is what happens when you have open borders and freedom of travel. This is how these people repay those countries who allow them in without checking up on them when they arrive at border control.

I must admit I'm a bit shocked by people saying you shouldn't wear high end watches and jewellery. I like and collect high end watches, I'll wear mine wherever I please. It is ridiculous to blame the wearer for being mugged, what's next, don't wear nice clothes, drive a nice car etc?

I am old enough to remember the bad old days when a woman could be seen to be "asking for it" if she dressed a certain way and got attacked, isn't it the same thing?

I understand that you should do all you can to protect yourself from any type of crime but to suggest you shouldn't wear (which in my eyes is the same as saying you shouldn't have nice things) is ludicrous.

Goodmorning

Just to let everyone know that there are 2 Romanian gypsies driving around mugging people for high end watches !

Woman gets out of car and attacks while guy waits in car beware scum bags !!

Hi, just to say thanks for the warning. I have seen this first hand and appreciate you letting all know because it's a real problem all over Spain. Don't pay any attention to the trolls, they can't seem to grasp it when their being informed of crime on their doorstep and the police are not interested either. Most people on the form are helpful and give good advice.

Thanks again

Fully agree with you, that's the case in most countries now

Much as I deplore these actions , your statement is very explicit as identifying the assailants as being Romanian, how do you know this, what proof do you have ?

This happened to me and a friend of mine (separately) back in March. Reported to the Guardia they said at the time it was a Rumanian gang targeting various towns and resorts. This time it was Villa Martin (me) and La Zenia for my friend neither got our Rolexes

It sounds like the same people, who were targeting the Dr Severo Orchoa in Benidorm a few years ago, only then they were snatching handbags. Romanian gypsy women  dress very distinctly  in baggy blouses and long skirts and wear headscarf’s tied behind the back of their necks.

When we were in Benidorm in 2020, they were hanging around hotels when transfer buses were arriving or departing and grabbing unattended suitcases.

Can’t disagree with your description for such individuals. Irrespective, how do we know they are Romanian gypsies if they have not yet been apprehended. How can they be sure that the victim is wearing a high end watch, could be just a fake Rolex or the like. And if the female does the attacking...

..., they must be very selective. Wouldn’t attack a 6 foot tall, fit looking  heavyweight, with the possibility he bought his watch from the lucky lucky man and worth twenty Euros. They must have had some previous close interaction with the intended victims, so they know for sure that they are on a winner. The bottom line is don’t wear valuable jewellery or even imitations of such, you are just inviting trouble. I have seen so many folks with fake gold chains, necklaces, watches etc. It’s just like carrying a huge sign, saying mug me!. Not condoning this in any way, absolutely not, but sometimes the victims could do with a bit of common sense.

even regular Romenians are aware of these gipsies they are well nown for there habits.

Come on now, let’s not start picking on ducks, surely that’s duckism. Most likely in todays society there is some sort law against that. Let’s not go down that road, none the less you are probably right.
