Does anyone know if it is possible to check the status of one's repeat prescriptions online? I other words can I access the same system that the farmácia does by entering my SIP number and see when prescriptions are next due etc.

You need the GVASalut app on your phone then you can check when things are due, what period they cover, when they run out and how much they cost. There is a host of other useful info available on the app as well.

Hello

I have 3 items a month but not altogether. The farmacia I use, do   print a ticket each month telling you what dates  your items are next due. for collection .....surely other farmacias can do the same?

Cheers

Why waste paper and ink, the GvaSalut app not only tells you everything about your medications, including retail prices and what you actuary pay, but also the expiry dates of each item.

You can of course use it to make an appointment with your doctor either in person or via the phone.

Why anybody wouldn't use I really don't know?

Hello

Because the farmacia makes it easier, everyone who hands in  their SIP card, gets their meds plus a copy of when their next meds are due....simple!

No need for apps, dont need to know details, prices etc, just dates..... &  done in a second without asking.

Not true and generalisations in Spain are always dodgy territory!

I frequently collect a prescription from a pharmacist in Albatera for an elderly friend who lives in the campo and can't always get out to collect in person, no paper has ever been issued.

I've also occasionally collected my own prescription whilst there but again no paper.

The app is ok providing the barcode on the SIP card scans neither of ours does, but I can't be asked to go and get new cards.

As I said in my 1st post, I was talking about the farmacia that I use, not 'generalising' on other peoples as I wouldnt have any knowledge of those.

however, its nice to know that we get this extra service

The barcode is a bit hit and miss to scan but if you persevere it will do it, the angle and distance of the phone to the card is quite critical to getting a good scan.

Paulo is quite right - it took me a while to scan the barcode, but got there in the end!
