Hi all

We moved to benissa in August. My partner is teaching at XIC in Xabia/Javea and our 10 year old twins attend school there. We have our NIE numbers and padron, but have not yet sorted out health care and i am very confused. We have NIE numbers on a white paper that are only valid 3 months. We need to apply for residencia - I have read lots of things about this and registering for Spanish healthcare and to be honest the more i read the more confused i become. What comes first the chicken or the egg ??? Are we eligible to register for Spanish healthcare - if so how do we do it, what do we need ? My partner has an NIF number as he is working. Do we do our residencia first ? Please help ???? Anyone recommend a Doctor's in Benissa?

You need to take your NIF/NIE, passports, your escritura or rental contract to the town hall to get your 'padron'. You should then be able to take these documents to a local health centre where they will give you the forms to fill out for Spanish national health care, alternatively take your documents to the local social security office to fill out the form.
