Hi, I'm pretty sure I've already seen a post about this but I can't find it now. I want to change my direct debit for Hidraqua from Sabadell to Wise  bank but,  trying to do it online, hidraqua wants a 20 digit IBAN number and the Wise IBAN is less than that. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks, M

Wise Euro accounts, based in Belgium begin with BE19 and are 20 Digits.

Are you looking at the Sterling or Euro , Wise account IBAN ??

My Sterling Wise IBAN is 16 characters in total beginning with BE45.

TBH I don't understand the difference between Sterling and Euro accounts.

I use mine principally to transfer money from my Lloyd's A/C to the Wise card or to my Caixa A/C but equally can do it the other way if neccessary so what is the advantage of one over the other?

My Wise Euro account number starts with BE17, then has 12 numbers after it, my Wise GB account number is 20 digits long.

I had the same issues as yourself when trying to set up the DD to Hidraqua from my Euro account, I ended up phoning them up at their office in Playa Flamenca, got put through to a very helpful English speaking adviser, who set it up over the phone, no problem

Ref my previous post, to avoid any confusion I was referring to the Wise IBAN code for both Euro and Sterling accounts, not my actual bank account numbers

Hi

I had the same problem. I sent them a message through the website and they switched the dd to the Belgian IBAN within a few days.

Cheers

Why two accounts, the IBAN differences excepted what can you do with one which you can't with the other?

The IBAN is Wise's bank id/address - they will have a different number for each country/currency that you operate

I understand the meaning of IBAN numbers but my query was what a GB account does over and above a Sterling one - or vice-versa?

I’ve done exactly the same thing, moved all my DDs from Sabadell to Wise. Iberdrola’s were easy to do online, as was the SUMA. Hydraqua’s online system doesn’t accept anything other than a 20 character IBAN, so you have to get in touch with them either via phone or email and they will do it manually for you. Just took a couple of days for me.
