Hi, have Samsung tv normally receiving channels through digi box. On this visit, TV will only get Netflix, Prime etc, no channels. When turning tv on, says there is no signal. Have selected source -HDMI, have run channel check, changed scart lead. Nothing, can anyone help or know of anyone who can sort this? Thank you in advance
Sounds like the problem is with the digi box but as that's something of a generic term I think you need to explain a little more.
Do you mean a Sky box?

Hi, it’s just a box that gives us Freeview, not a sky box. Photo attached. It’s only about 12 months old. Was fine in November. I read about getting fire sticks, would that bypass any problem? Have had the air con fixed between Nov to now, presume it can’t be related 🤔, just at a loss!

Carefully check all cables and connections from the antenna to your TV

Perhaps you are trying to watch a channel that has changed frequencies (like BBC, Channel5) and your receiver is using old frequencies...in which case you will need to do a channel scan to get the channels on their new frequencies.
But then there are lots of channels that have not changed frequencies, so if you are getting no signal at all on ANY channel, then it is a dish, LNB, cable issue ("Have had the air con fixed between Nov to now, presume it can’t be related" - unless they banged your dish out of alignment, or drilled / disconnected a cable!)
If you are getting NO display from the box at all, like no settings or channel list showing, and it is the TV that is showing "No signal" (ie the TV is not getting any signal from the free to air Engel box) then change the HDMI ports on the TV, or try another HDMI cable ( they do fail).
"Have selected source -HDMI, have run channel check, changed scart lead" - if you are using a SCART lead, then the TV should not be on an HDMI input!
So first thing to check is is the "No signal" message from the TV getting no signal from the box, or from the box getting no signals from the satellite.

Hi,
I changed the HDMI ports, but it made no difference. I have changed the hdmi lead to a new one, that didn’t work. I messed up when saying scart lead….I meant hdmi cable. I have run an auto run on channels, but nothing. Looked a the satellite dish, appears un damaged, cables run down the roof, so can’t be sure about them.
Am attaching photo of back of Engel box, which turn on and off ok….just no channels 😩
Any ideas from the photos?
thank you in advance

So we can establish that the "no signal" is from the box, and not the TV.
So either your dish is out of alignment (a few millimeters can make all the difference - did the aircon people work near the dish?), the dish is warped out of shape (the main issue when dishes are installed on roofs and not sheltered from winds), the LNB has failed, you have a poor cable connection (a joint in the cable that is not waterproofed, and has been damaged by rain?), or your cables over the roof have cracked in the sun and rain has got into the cable and damaged the cable (and it can also damage the cable input on the receiver also, so check to make sure this does no look burned). Check the receiver by , if you can, take it to someone elses house and test it there?

Hi Trudy,
I had a problem with my Samsung TV. I contacted Samsung chat helpline. They took me through each step. In my case I was getting channels but they would disconnect after a few seconds then come back on. Because I could get channels on my TV Samsung suggested the problem was not with the TV. I looked up issues with tv signal. One thing could be the satellite dish is worn, or the surface is rusty? Other problems could be something called Solar noise. In Spain during March and April the sun causes radio frequency noise. This interrupts the signal. The dish needs to have a noise reduction filter applied. Just a thought but I think you need a tv guy to have a look at it or try the Samsung helpline? Best of luck.

The only thing that makes sense is that there is an issue with the cables, they might be sun or rain damaged. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, probably to a tv/sky engineer!. Will have to make do with Netflix for now 😬
