The sanction for this offence is only a small fine anyway.
I think people are a bit annoyed that such a powerful figure would appear to flaunt the rules, then when found out and challenged, instead of putting his hand up and saying sorry, came up with a cock and bull story that contradicts what his wife had published in the press earlier.
For the record, in my opinion, all the MPs or senior public figures who have been caught should have been fined and should have issued apologies. A second offence should mean dismissal.
At the moment it looks like certain top people can have a free for all while us plebs obey the rules and many folk have missed saying good bye to their loved ones.
