Wintering in Calpe

I have just joined the forum, and would like to tap into some local knowledge. I currently live in France and have done for the last 18 years, we have finally got to the positon where we would like to swap the cold for some sunshine over the winter months either Nov Dec or Jan Feb. A friend from the Uk until recently lived full time in Calpe and recommended it as some where nice and good for a winter stay. Our interests hopefully in the sun or better weather include horse riding, we will tow our horse box down, and me road cycling and windsurfin. My question at last.... whilst I have checked the internet the first two boxs are well ticked ie horse and bike , but is Calpe a suitable windsurfin resort, ie. does it have reliable wind, over the winter months or is it better to just move a little further south to Alicante, where I have seen they do advertise all year round water sports. We have just sold a property in France and this would release funds to buy, but again advice if possible, is it worth the hassle of ownership when rents are reasonable at this time of year.
