Hi Stevan

We are not fulltime residents and only bought last year

We looked along the coast to buy before we found Castalla International  I had the same concerns as yourself in regards to the temperature so rented a place for a week in October before we put an offer on a house

We came over last November and I found the temperature during the day still warm but our villa was very cold at night as we only have a gas fire. Most fulltime residents have log burners

People here very friendly and more of a village then an urbanision as the urbanision is  not gated and also offers an Endlish bar, Spanish bar, shop and communal swimming pool

There are two main estate agents Rual properties and Habitat one who both have websites. There are some illegal properties on the urbanizion but we used a solicitor do do our searches, NIE numbers , bank and utility bills and only used the estate agent to buy the house

Castalla town is very traditional with lovely old buildings

Jane

Hi Jane,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. From what I have found so far it would seem advisable to look for a property with central heating.

Thankyou for the information, I’m hoping to go out there to look around in the next few weeks.

Regards

Stevan

All the best and hope to see you soon

Hi John,

Thanks for the introduction to Teresa. I’m meeting with her on Wednesday to have a look at some properties hopefully. I did mention you recommended her.

I’m only over there for four days- Monday to Saturday - and will be staying in Playa San Juan

Thanks again

Stevan

Good morning,

I’m just looking for any information and/or advice on living in castalla international full time. Are there many full time residents ? Are there any facilities to walk too I.e bars etc that are open all year. I have read that it is cold in winter...how cold compared to the U.K. for example ? I ...

...live in Norfolk currently. Is there anything I should look out for when considering buying property....i.e are they all fully legal ?

Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Hi Stevan,

We have lived in Castalla Internacional for 12 years, as permanent residents. We have an end house with 5 bedrooms as we developed our under build to accommodate our family for holidays. Initially CI was all ex pats from many countries. Now we have as many Spanish families living here so the average age of the population has lowered considerably. Spanish people are warm, friendly and welcoming. They do appreciate those of us who attempt to learn the language, but as English is now the second language taught in Spanish schools many are fluent in English.

It does get cold in the mornings and evenings in the winter, and during the time we have lived here we have had snow ( which lasts about 2 hours and then is gone) on two occasions and frost on say 3 or 4. On the last occasion we had snow they also had a fall on the coast for the first time in 35 years. You will need your English winter clothes for early in the day and late, but during the day it’s a joy.  We have a log burner and that is quite capable of heating a whole floor of the house.

There is an great deal that I could tell you but don’t wish to take up so much space.

Good advice to contact Teresa as she is a gem,

Best wishes Freda and Ken

Hi Stevan,

I've been living on Castalla Internacional since 2003 so I know the development and the surrounding areas very well. If you are thinking of coming to live permanently I can only recommed it, however if you decide to buy on the estate itself, then it will be wise to bear in mind, that to the best of my knowledge, the properties on the 2nd Phase do not have a Cedula de Habitabilidad,(Habitation Certificate) and are therefore not 100% legal.

In my experience the temperatures here usually differ by about 5°c to those on the Coast. It is not unusual for the area to have a sugar coating of snow at least once during the winter months and even though the temperature can often be over 15° during the day it is not uncommon for it to fall below zero at night.

I hope this helps, Best, Jean-Paul
