If the OP doesn't qualify, what's the point?

I believe Uma may give the first consultation for free anyway then it is up to them how they proceed. If they go ahead then the NLV is the first official step and they are free to choose who represents them or if they want to go it alone.

If I had known Uma at this stage in my move to Spain, I would have saved quite a few grey hairs. Uma charges only for work done, not an annual retainer and she did my Spanish driving licence, my daughter's non-resident tax and our annual tax returns and I can stop any of them at any time. The price she charges is always well worth it to me.

The point is Cheryl is that the OP must apply initially him/herself (and not by a representative) to the Spanish consulate while living in the UK. You cannot apply while you are in Spain.  IF he/she is retiring to Spain then apply for a non lucrative visa.

Hi

Thanks for that, I had been told that the amount of income had been reduced from 27K but you have confirmed that it hasn't

Unfortunately although we will have savings in the bank my pension will not amount to that much.

Uts probably time to look elsewhere , maybe Portugal !

Thanks again

Jon

I understand you can use a combination of savings and income (unearned only). One expert described it as a "cocktail". Good luck.

Income can consist of many things but not a salary from employment as you are applying for a Non Lucrative Visa which means no work, including remote working for a UK or other non Spanish employer.

Annier999 is correct, it doesn't have to be income alone it can also include savings.

I would advise you to contact the Spanish consulate in the UK (via email) and ask them any questions that you might have, that's what I did and they gave me all the answers that I required.

It depends on which area that you live in the UK as to which consulate you contact as they will only deal with your quieres if they are your local consulate.

As far as I'm aware there are consulates in Manchester, Birmingham and London if you are in England.

Hope this helps,

John

You wil need a retirees visa or go self employed. Google both for best info. If you have any descendants from Southern Ireland you might be able to get a Irish passport.

I think Barry nash means ancestors e.g. parent, grandparent.  That's how the Irish  football team have English players.

Pulls up chair, opens pop-corn, gets comfy. Waits for the onslaught.

This'll be good.

Dream on!

Regular tourism by Mr & Mrs Average and their 2.4 kids will continue as if Brexit had never happened and that's where the vast bulk of Spain’s income from tourism comes from.

Spain is making billions and billions from tourist from EU countries they are not and never have been reliant on the UK. Spain has managed quite well this year (since most of the restrictions were lifted) with tourism from other nations apart from Britain.

There is nothing stopping anyone settling in Spain if you meet the income and healthcare requirements.

Good Afternoon,

We are currently in the process of applying for a Non Lucrative Visa and awaiting an appointment from the Spanish Consulate in London, other two Consulates are available in Manchester and Glasgow.

I wish I could say it has been an easy process so far but it has not.

My advise would be not to listen to other people and there views, which I know sound contradictory, but people mean well but there are so many circumstances that others may not be aware of they can not possibly advise for you personally only generally.

If you have a Spanish Solicitor I would consult with them first and take Professional advise, as there are many hoops that you will need to jump through.

The 27K p.a. is not specific it will depend on other factors, i.e are you of pensionable age, do you and your spouse receive a State Pension, do you own a Spanish property, do you have savings.

My advice is to obtain professional advice.

Hope this helps.

Alan
