Our gestoria has requested a raft of additional information  for this year's return including.

Source of pensions ( private, state, company annuities etc) We have always listed these as independent pensions but never identified the type

Any home improvements ie solar panels, glazing, solar water heating , insulation etc.

I am told this is a government requirement can anyone verify that this is the case.

Pension type might be relevant if you receive what is classed as a UK Crown pension, i.e. one from a whole raft of employers in the public sector, armed forces, etc. Lists are available on the internet.

This type of pension is not classed as taxable income in Spain, it is eligible for tax in the UK but your personal allowance would be offset against it there. You still have to declare it in the appropriate box on your Spanish return however, because it is taken into account when setting your tax bands.

I don't know if you might get some extra allowance against tax for installing energy saving devices and measures, but it can't hurt to mention it. I didn't install anything like that in the house, so I wasn't looking for it on the tax return form when I did mine three weeks ago.

No pension exempt from Spanish tax, paid for the past 15 years without issue. Just carefull about the amount of information I need to give.

I receive four pensions, the UK state pension and three smaller pensions from former employers.

I put the total of all four on the tax return form. This caused no problems and no further details were requested.

I'd ask your gestor why he wants the info.

Of course, what I really want to advise you is to do it yourself! It's not that difficult if you're prepared to make the effort.
