If you own your own home  and it’s just bills and living costs like food etc. you wouldn’t need anywhere like 20-22k!

Thank you very much Kim for this and the spreadsheet, it’s so helpful and will help us to plan for the move.  We have a 3 bed quad villa so hope our bill will be a few euros less than yours :)

Best wishes Denise and Nick

Hi Kim

My wife and i are in the process of setting our stall out in the UK and looking to move out to Catral, not sure if we are going to long term rent or buy yet but i would really appreciate it if you could send me a copy of your spread sheet to [email protected] if its not too much trouble.

Also any advice ie pros and cons would be good too.

Look forward to hearing from you

Jon & Julie Neal

Good morning Kim,

Well I have learnt something new today namely Sun Tax, I never knew The Spanish Gov had a  sun tax, how they can tax something that no one has to produced or has Spain colonised or claimed the sun to be Spanish then?  Do they give a rebate when the sun goes down at night or during rain.

Hi Kim

We do not have solar panels either but we have 2 what were green fields now one field has 75,000 and the other 85,000 solar panels but they will be small fields compared to the one being built a 890 acres (365 hectares) – equal to more than 400 football pitches – of farmland it it is estimated between 250,000 to 300,000 panels will be required. There's nothing I like driving pass a field that was once green, but now black with solar panels.(I am joking). The winner's is the farmer who gets £500,000 pa rent pa and free elec the rest of us just have to pay more to get green energy, (the one near us has 75,000 panels)  The rest of the energy produced is sent to houses and factories etc 100 miles away.

In my opinion all houses, factories, office buildings, Public buildings including schools and hospitals should have solar panels installed at the time they are built. The Grammar School our boys go to have every roof covered in solar panels,it has taken 5 years of hard work by all at the school and 1 or 2 very big donations, they now get enough free elec for the whole school, the rest is sold off to the National Grid.

Have a good day.
