Can anyone please advise if one needs a certificate stating the gas bottle installation is correct.  I’ve a connection from our outhouse through the underbuild into the gas hob - we changed this 12 yrs ago when we moved in as previous owner had the bottle in the house under the hob.

If I need an inspection certificate please advise best company to approach.  Thank you

Yes and it should be inspected and recertified regularly, every 5 years I believe.

Without it if you had an incident your home insurer could justifiably refute a claim, equally if any flexible hoses are out of date.

Better don't wake up sleeping dogs. If you use a plastic gas hose, check the expiry date printed on it and replace accordingly.  Get hoses from any better "ferreteria".

Better don’t wake sleeping dogs….?? That’s a very dangerous approach for a gas installation that, by law, needs checking & inspecting? The law is there for a reason, which is to help and prevent faulty hoses/appliances causing any leaks which could endanger buildings and peoppe within them.

Mobile appliances like a gas fire or barbecue do not need a gas inspection certificate. Those for cookers, hobs, water heaters etc do.

You should check the hoses on mobile appliances for the date and replace after 5 years and the regulator if showing signs of wear or after 10 years.

Others are required, by law, to be inspected every 5 years but do not, under any circumstances, allow anyone who just knocks on your door to come in and do it regardless of official badges, uniforms etc.

If you have a Repsol gas bottle, contact Repsol in your area, if a Cepsa bottle then Cepsa etc.  They will either send someone around or give you a list of qualified agents in the area.

Thank you very much, I’ll contact Cepsa on Monday and arrange the necessary inspection.

In my experience the Repsol people will try and rip you off!  They are only agents of Repsol and are cowboys.   All you have to do is replace the hose yourself every 5 years and keep the receipt in the very unlikely event that your insurance should want it.  Do not lose any money sleep over it

Hi I need to check this out with my insurance company as well and get something from them in writing.  But by all accounts everyone is saying it needs to be done by a reputable company to guarantee insurance cover.    Since it’s a 5 yrs inspection I’m happy to pay for peace of mind.
